| Background:
This pond is situated in a town centre
market square. The pond before we started had 3 large concrete
circles set on site which originally acted as a water feature with the
water running off them but due to vandalism these had ceased to work and
were not repairable. Also they were being used as a climbing area by
local children. The pond plants were running riot and generally the
pond needed a complete revamp.
Project:
We removed the fish and housed them off
site and then emptied the pond and removed all rubbish from site.
Contractors were then brought in to remove the old concrete
centrepiece. The existing coping stones were removed (but reused)
and a new liner and underlay were fitted once the damaged area on the base
was screeded. New electrics were installed with 2 timers for the
fountains and lighting. Three fountains were then installed with
underwater Halogen lighting. These were all bedded into concrete or
chained down to reduce the risk of theft. The narrow border around
one end of the pond was replanted with new shrubs which provide all year
interest and new pond plants introduced. The fish were then
introduced to their new home.
